Eszter Vámosi: Etudes in perfect form

Etudes. Feelings. Experiences. Linguistic bravura. Musical thinking. There are twelve words, twelve parts, twelve scenes.

Sándor Weöres’s poem, the Topic and variations, together with László Sáry’s composition can make us, the viewers fly into a magical world. It is not surprising and Zoltán Balázs and the Maladype invite the viewers again to a modern performance, which makes us think it over. The twelve pictures in duets, quartets, colouring with interludes can take us into the world of imagination.

The actors’ concentration that is above human nature, and the concentration, which can be felt in every moments of the performance. The personal responsibility, which the director puts on the actors, and which makes the troupe work together as a well-composed scale of sounds, can reflect a workshop, which is rare in Hungarian theatres. The chain of association, which is put on stage with good taste and perfect sense of rate, is thick, meaningful and gives us an experience, which makes the viewers think for days. During the tight, almost an hour-long performance, neither the performers nor the viewers can relax. Something always happens in each moments.

Besides the framed structure there is not any conventional in the performance. The work of the troupe can raise accepted and prejudiced respect in the writer of these lines, the order behind the seemingly playful nature of it, and their respect, which is shown towards their director and viewers.

Péter Gál Molnár said about Zoltán Balázs: “Zoltán Balázs’ performances are looking for the something special. And there is something special in them.”

MGP can state perfectly the multi coloured and untouchable nature of this excellent theatrical professional person and his performances. Zoltán Balázs’ excellent talent can always make me surprised. The thousand number of layers, which can be found in him, his age-defying education and his special relationship to the world are reflected perfectly by this performance (too). All his performances, plays indicate: for him the effort for perfection can be the key of happiness.
